Audio mics and equipment categories added

1.15.0 (2024-11-04)

Audio mics and audio equipment added as new categories

Two new categories have been added to support some upcoming library additions. Audio equipment also supports gear level IP addresses, and both support last week's release of port level IP addresses.

Increased server capacity

We have increased our server capacity to handle more concurrent users at once for a faster app experience. We will continue to monitor performance and plan to increase capacity even further over the coming weeks.

Improvements

  • Added View Ports to the right click menu when selecting gear, to open the gear's ports for faster access
  • Moved Remove to the bottom of the right click menu, to help prevent unintended clicking

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed connections being removed incorrectly when they were moved between gear of different categories
  • Fixed retrying after a server connection loss from getting stuck in a loop in some situations

IP addresses added to ports!

1.14.0 (2024-10-28)

IP addresses added to ports, along with duplicate IP validation!

You can now add IP addresses and subnets to network based ports (RJ45, etherCON, etc). This is in addition to IP addresses at the gear level you previously were able to do on switches and PTZ cameras.

All gear categories other than switches support this feature, and will be selectable for any network based port in both the View All Details dialog table, and port reports.

In addition to being able to set IP addresses, the system will also validate in real time if you have entered a duplicate IP and warn you if so. This not only checks across all your gear and ports, but is VLAN aware as well! Meaning you can set the same IP address on two different ports, so long as both ports are ether on, or connected to, different VLANs.

Note that gear level IP addresses (as set in General Settings) do not have VLANs so these will be checked against all gear and ports.

The warning you receive will display the duplicate gear's label, as well as the port's label and VLAN's name if applicable. You may ignore this warning as it will not prevent you from setting a duplicate IP, as there may be cases where this is desirable so it will simply warn you instead.

Lighting distributions now support IP addresses at the gear level

In addition to port IP addresses, the lighting distribution category can now set IPs and subnets at the gear level, in the General Settings pane. These will benefit from the IP validation logic described above.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed IP addresses and subnets' server validation not checking for IP address values specifically
  • Fixed being able to edit connection colours in Reports, even when the report was locked

Analog Way, Barco E2, and more added

Analog Way, Barco E2, and more Yamaha series added to the library

Several new gear items have been added to the library including:
  • Analog Way

    • LivePremier series including their input/output cards
    • Midra switchers
    • Pictural Mark II media servers including their expansion cards
  • Barco
    • E2 (Gen 1 and Gen 2)
    • PDS-4K + PDS-4K SDI
    • S3-4K
  • Yamaha
    • R series
    • Tio series
The new library options added in version 1.12 are required to use these library items so make sure your app is running 1.12.2 or later!

Significant improvements to project saving, syncing, and opening

Continuing the work started in 1.12, this update brings major improvements to how GearConnect keeps track of and saves your project files. In addition to the improvements and bug fixes listed below, notable changes include:
  • Projects no longer ask you to save when leaving a project or going to the Library Editor; it automatically saves before navigating to the new page
    • Note: You will still be prompted to save before closing the tab or window, which we recommend you do
  • When navigating between Draw, Report, and other locations in the app, the background sync will run and a version history will be created automatically if it hasn't already, thus validating the project more frequently and keeping more backup copies
  • Better scheduling of large operations to prevent the app from getting overwhelmed in situations like upgrading a project while also downloading the latest library updates
All of these changes should provide a more streamlined experience when working quickly or with large projects in the app.

Improvements

  • Additional information is now displayed during some loading screen operations to give you more feedback as to what is happening in the background:
    • When opening projects, it will report how the project is being opened:
      • In most cases it will report it is loading the project from version history
      • In cases where version history is not available or not up to date, it will display the step it is on (gear category, ports, layers, etc...)
    • When updating to the latest library version, it will report which category it's currently downloading, broken down by default and user libraries
  • When the background sync detects errors and prompts you to run a full sync, it will now preform a full reload of the project to improve sync accuracy (this is how the manual Server Sync operates from the Tools Menu as well)
  • More feedback to the user has been added regarding when a sync is in progress

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed notifications and the loading bar being underneath the full screen loading page, which was making them unreadable
  • In rare cases, the most recent version history's drawing data would be loaded instead of the most recent drawing during project opens or navigating back to the Draw Page; the version history drawing data is now only used during explicit imports, with the most recent drawing data always taking precedence in all other cases
  • When coming back to the app, you would be taken to the Projects Page, but your most recent project was loaded in the background; the project is no longer loaded until you open it specifically
  • When importing a project from the Projects Page, you were not taken to the Project's Draw page automatically once the import was complete

1.12.2 (2024-10-17)

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed 3D Sync and NDI signal type missing from the Library Editor and ports

1.12.1 (2024-10-17)

Improvements

  • Added the following Library Port options:
    • Mini-DIN 3-Pin port type
    • MCO 5-Pin port type
    • 12 Gbps speed
    • 20 Gbps speed
    • NDI signal type
    • S3D Sync signal type
  • Removed HDBaseT as a category as it was already a signal type
    • Existing projects and library items using the HDBaseT category have been updated to be Video categories instead

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed some older projects not having their data updated with the Word Clock changes from v1.9.0
