Changelogs

1.43.4

New Port Options

New Connectors

  • IEC C5
  • IEC C6
C5 and C6 follow the same rules as the other recent IEC connectors we have added. Adding either one to a gear item in the Library Editor sets the port direction and signal for you as well.

Connector Compatibility

The C6 inlet can now be connected directly to Schuko, BS 1363 and NEMA 5-15, joining C8, C14 and C20.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed not being able to export reports if either the IP Address or Subnet columns were visible.

Expansion cards for audio equipment, and new IEC power ports

1.43.3

This release brings Expansion Cards to the audio equipment gear category, adds IEC C7 and C8 as new connectors, lets IEC device inlets connect straight to a wall outlet, and we've now crossed 3,000 items in the Default Library!

New Port Options

New Connectors

  • IEC C7
  • IEC C8

C7 and C8 follow the same rules as other similar IEC connectors, such as how we treat C13 mating with C14. Adding either one to a gear item in the Library Editor sets the port direction and signal for you, as the other IEC connectors already do.

Connector Compatibility

IEC device inlets can now be connected directly to a mains outlet. C8, C14 and C20 each connect to Schuko, BS 1363 and NEMA 5-15 with no adapter, treating the removable power cord as the cable. This is the same rule DC Barrel already follows, so a device with a detachable cord draws power straight from the outlet feeding it.

View invoices, USB-C adapters, and performance improvements

1.43.2

New Port Options

Connector Compatibility

Using an adapter, USB‑C can now connect to Schuko, BS 1363, and NEMA 5‑15 connectors, allowing a USB‑powered device to draw power directly from mains.

Improvements

  • Subscription settings now include a “View Invoices” button that opens the billing portal. The button appears in both User Settings and the Team Settings Subscription tab.
  • Significant server and network performance improvements during project syncing operations, specifically targeted at large projects which result in up to 10x faster sync times from our testing!
    • Gear loads back from the server faster in projects with a lot of connections.
    • Updating gear, ports, and connections are all significantly faster, most noticeable on projects with hundreds to thousands of items.
    • Deleting layers then syncing is now significantly faster, especially when deleting several at once.
    • Drastically reduced server RAM usage during large project syncs, resulting in less transient sync errors as our servers dynamically scale up during heavy user usage.
  • If a drawing doesn’t finish loading, you’re now prompted to reload the project instead of the failure passing silently.
  • Several security improvements and hardened edge cases related to project data.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed rare cases where the drawing would stay locked and read‑only after a project reloaded.
  • Fixed the loading screen staying up when a project failed to open.
  • Fixed Background Sync stopping early when the server refused a connection update; the rest of the sync now finishes.
  • Fixed the upgrade button not being centred in the Version History and Undo Stack windows.

4.7x faster default library loading

1.43.1

This release dramatically improves the performance of the Default Library loading, adds UDP/IP as a new signal type with wider network compatibility, and removes the length limit on connection tag labels.

Faster Default Library Loading

The Default Library could sometimes take minutes to regenerate if you were using GearConnect while our team was actively updating items. After each library update, the library needs to regenerate, re-mapping all expansion cards to their proper devices. This process originally only took a few seconds, but as the library has grown significantly, this process has started taking noticeably more time.

Once the generation process was complete, the library would only take a few seconds to load, which is what most users experienced, but for users that were actively using the library while it was regenerating, the experience could be frustrating.

We've drastically improved this with two key changes:
  • The library generation is now 4.7x times faster thanks to several optimizations, particularly around expansion cards, so it completes in a fraction of the time it used to take. From our testing, we have been able to get the full Default Library generation from ~6:40 minutes, down to ~1:24 minutes. These optimizations not only apply to the Default Library, but User and Team Libraries as well!
  • The Default Library now regenerates on its own in the background, using dynamic regeneration for only the sub sections that changed, and doesn't alert the app until the generated library is ready to load. This means in almost all cases, you will only pull in the faster library in about ~9 seconds and never have to wait for the slower one to finish generating.
This allows GearConnect to continue to work in full project Offline Mode, having access to the entire library while offline, and hopefully this will make the library experience much smoother for everyone!

New Port Options

New Signal Types

  • UDP/IP

Signal Compatibility

UDP/IP joins TCP/IP, Unicast, Multicast, and Broadcast as a general network signal type, allowing connection to any of them.

The audio over IP protocols are now compatible (with a warning) with all five of those general network types too. AES67, AVB, Dante, CobraNet, Milan, Ravenna, and Waves can each be connected to a TCP/IP, UDP/IP, Unicast, Multicast, or Broadcast port, so running a Dante or Milan device into a plain network port on a switch works as expected. Previously only AES67 was set up this way.

The network video protocols (SDVoE, SMPTE 297M, ST 2110, and NDI) have picked up UDP/IP as well, alongside the network types they already supported.

Although these compatibility changes aren’t technically accurate in every real‑world scenario due to varying device network configurations, we've heard your feedback, and allowing the different protocols to connect provides a smoother experience while still displaying our usual signal warnings.

Default Library Updates

Thank you to everyone who has submitted and requested library items! This batch is a smaller one for this update:
  • APC
    • APDU9959EU3
    • SRT6KRMXLI
  • HP
    • HP Poly Studio X32
    • HP USB-C 100W G6 Dock
    • Poly TC10
  • NovaStar
    • VX1000 Pro
  • Nvidia
    • NVIDIA RTX A400

Improvements

  • Connection Tag labels are no longer cut off at 24 characters. Long gear and port names now show in full on the tag, in all three Tag Label modes (Gear Only, Gear and Port, and Port Only), and the tag resizes itself to fit.
  • Teams can now enter a tax ID when subscribing. The checkout page includes a field for your business tax number, such as a VAT or GST number, so it is recorded against the team and appears on your invoices.
  • The team name and team picture fields in Team Settings now explain why they are disabled (such as a Member trying to rename the team).

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a gap that allowed reports and cable inventory items to be created without a Pro subscription.
  • Fixed the tooltip on the promo code field never appearing when the field was disabled, such as when there is not an active yearly promotion.

New power related options added

1.43.0

This release adds Power Distribution as its own gear category, four new port connectors including a new Mains connector group, a large batch of Default Library gear, and a set of Library Editor improvements and fixes.

Power Distribution

Power distros, PDUs, and distro racks now have a gear category of their own. As we continue to expand more into power features, this new category will help better organize the additional gear we have been adding to the Default Library.

Power Distributions are IP address eligible at the gear level to support network enabled options, so you can set DHCP, an IP address, and a subnet from the General Settings pane or Reports. With the new Mains category below and the additional power options we’ve been adding to library items, we are moving closer to allowing you to draw fully functional power paths in GearConnect.

New Port Options

  • New Connectors
    • Schuko
    • BS 1363
    • DC Barrel
    • LEMO 10-Pin
In addition to the Power Distributions, we are adding more power options to join our existing powerCON, NEMA, and other options. Schuko and BS 1363 are the standard domestic mains outlets used across Europe and the UK, and they arrive in a new Mains group in the connector selector.

Connector Compatibility

DC Barrels can be connected directly to Schuko, BS 1363, and NEMA 5-15, treating the external power supply as the cable, so a wall wart powered device connects straight to the outlet feeding it without needing an adapter.

Improvements

  • Changing a library item's category in the Library Editor now archives the original item for you. Previously a category change saved the item into its new category and left the old copy behind, so the same piece of gear showed up twice in the library.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed draft Expansion Cards that were still in progress by our team appearing in the Expansion Card selector, where they could be picked and assigned to a gear item before we finished publishing them. Cards already assigned to a gear item stay visible and removable, matching how archived cards behave.
  • Fixed a project failing to open when it loaded straight from the local database, such as creating a project, returning to the projects page, and then opening it again after a full page refresh without letting it first saving to the server.
  • Fixed trial ending reminder emails being sent to members who already had a payment method on file, including cards added through the billing portal, and improved the wording of the email to make it clearer.
