Pro Features

GearConnect is free for everyone to use, as it’s important to us to offer an accessible platform for our industry, as that desire is why we built this app originally. However, we do offer Pro and Team subscriptions that unlock additional features and functionality. Features that require a Pro subscription are marked with a (Pro feature) label.

Pro features include:

• Full Edit Mode in drawings and reports
• Bulk connection creation
• Auto-number labels
• Export selection
• Additional export options (SVG, Excel)
• Custom User Library
• Cable Inventory
• Save custom reports and generate report templates
• Importing of GearConnect files
• Automatic version history (up to 100)
• Priority support

Getting Pro Access

There are three ways to access Pro features in GearConnect:

Personal Subscription

Subscribe to a personal Pro subscription that unlocks Pro features for your individual account across all your personal projects.

Team Membership

Automatic Pro access when:

• You’re added to a Team as an Owner, Admin, or Member (paid roles).
• You’re changed from a non-paid role to a paid role on a Team (e.g., Guest → Member, Billing Manager → Admin).

Personal subscription cancellation:

If you have a personal Pro subscription when you’re added to a paid team role, your personal subscription is automatically cancelled. You’ll continue to have Pro access through your team membership instead.

Maintaining Pro access:

• You keep Pro access as long as you’re in at least one paid role on an active Team.
• If you’re in multiple Teams with paid roles, removing you from one Team doesn’t affect your Pro access (you still have it through other Teams).
• Switching between paid roles (Owner ↔ Admin ↔ Member) maintains your Pro access.

Losing Pro access:

Your Pro access is revoked when:

• You’re removed from all Teams with paid roles.
• You’re changed from a paid role to a non-paid role (Guest or Billing Manager) and aren’t in any other Teams with paid roles.
• All your Teams with paid roles become restricted or are deleted.
• You leave all Teams where you had paid roles.

Note

Team trials and restricted Teams don’t grant Pro access. Only active Teams with paid subscriptions grant Pro access to members in paid roles. Non-paid roles (Guest, Billing Manager) never receive Pro access through Team membership.

Perpetual License

GearConnect also offers perpetual licenses for individual users. These licenses provide lifetime access to the current Pro features without the need for a subscription. You will receive updates and support for one year from the date of purchase. After that, you can continue using the version you have indefinitely, or choose to renew your license.

Full Edit Mode

Some gear have Multi-Mode options on their ports, for example if a BNC port supports both SDI in and out, you may be given an option to select which mode you want to use. This functionality is limited to the library item definition however, but with Full Edit Mode you can change all the port options to anything available in the system, independent of the library item definition. Bulk Connection Creation

Create multiple connections between gear in one go. Select your gear, and GearConnect lets you create connections between all compatible ports - allowing you to wire entire network switches or video matrixes in just a few clicks. Learn more here.

Auto-Number Labels

When bulk editing labels, you can automatically add sequential numbers to each item. Enter a label like “Speaker” and enable auto-numbering to have your items become “Speaker 1”, “Speaker 2”, and so on. Learn more here.

Export Selection

Export or print just your selection instead of the entire drawing - perfect for sharing specific sections of complex drawings with colleagues. When you have items selected and choose to export or print, you’ll be asked whether to export just the selection or the entire drawing. Learn more here.

Additional Export Options

Pro users can export their drawings to SVG format, and their reports to Excel format. This allows you to have more control over how you use your data outside of GearConnect.

Custom User Library

Allows you to create and save custom library items. You can:

• Copy items from the default library and customize them.
• Build new library items using the Create button.
• Change item categories and archive unused items.
• Save your custom items to use across all your projects.

Cable Inventory

Create and manage a standardized list of cable types for your projects. Define cables with specific names, lengths, units, and inventory SKUs to help organize your connections and generate accurate cable reports. Learn more here.

Custom Reports

While everyone can customize the three default reports, Pro users can save the changes they make to the reports. This allows you to create custom reports that fit your specific needs, either for quickly editing data in the project, or for exporting custom reports that you can print or import into other applications. Learn more here.

Pro users can also quickly generate report templates, such as the Cable Count Report or port and connection reports for specific gear by right-clicking on the gear in the drawing, and selecting your desired report.

Importing of GearConnect Files

All users can export their projects to a GearConnect file, but only Pro users can import them. This allows you to share your projects with other Pro users, back them up, or even use them as a template for new projects. Learn more here.

Automatic Version History

Pro users have access to their project’s version history, which will automatically save up to 100 versions of your project. This allows you to restore to a previous version if you make a mistake, or just want to see how your project has evolved over time. Learn more here.

Pro users have access to priority support, which means your questions and issues will be addressed first. This is a great way to get help quickly if you’re stuck on something, or just have a question about how to use GearConnect.
